In Class Writing-Articles
The first article I read was “Zuckerberg's Important Message on Miscarriage” and it talked about how Zuckerberg openly stated how he and his wife are expecting a baby girl but that they previously had a miscarriage and that is was a terrible loss for them. I believe the author is speaking to an audience that isn't aware of the topic as much as they think they do. The author is very successful in adding her own perspective because throughout the article she gives her own opinion and either agrees or disagrees with statements that Zuckerberg made or facts that she stated. This article is interesting to me because I was unaware on how common miscarriages are in the United States, I have very close family members that have lost their children in a miscarriage-and some even worse. My aunt was expecting twins, and asked me to be the godmother of one of her babies but when she gave birth both of the twins had passed away. Having such a tragic lose like this happens more often than you think so when ever I hear people openly talking about their own experiences I feel that it makes your own experience a little easier w
The second article I read was “Nine Common Misconceptions about the Homeless” and it was a very personal article, the author was almost talking to herself like a personal reflection. This article is very relevant to todays current events because the number of homeless people in America is only increasing, I think the author is speaking to an audience that does not have much knowledge about homeless people and the life they live. The article flows very nicely because of the 9 topics that talk about what people assume about the homeless, it really gives a good idea on what most people perception is of the topic. This article was extremely interesting because it had a more sympathetic appeal for the homeless and showed that sometimes their not all addicted to drugs or alcohol. I was interested to find out that yes some assumptions were correct but not as much as you would think, after reading this article I have a new light on homeless people and realize that sometimes people are just dealt a shitty hand.
